TVE Asia Pacific: Activity Areas
TVEAP implements
activities covering five broad areas.
-
Producing regionally relevant new content
for television and online outlets:
To enable Asia Pacific nationals to tell their own stories, TVE
Asia Pacific supports independent film-makers and television producers
to create new content for broadcast television, narrowcast use
and online publishing. These cover a broad range of concerns related
to sustainable development and social justice, and are made to
national or international broadcast standards.

- Distributing,
locally adapting and promoting international content for local
audiences:
This ensures that programmes made at national, regional or international
levels are made available to broadcast, educational and civil
society outlets, multiplying outreach. TVE Asia Pacific works
with national, regional and global partner organisations to accomplish
such distribution.

- Strengthening
the capacity of television professionals through training courses:
With the recent channel explosion, more
professionals are working in television and video industries in
Asia Pacific than ever before. Yet there are few opportunities
for them to upgrade knowledge and sharpen their skills. TVE Asia
Pacific organises short training courses and workshops focusing
on good story-telling and journalistic skills of mid-career professionals.

- Consulting
on information, education and communications (IEC) policy and
strategies:
With governments, civil society,
development donors and UN agencies increasingly recognising the
value of communications for development, there is an urgent need
to adopt appropriate policies and strategies. Based on a decade
of experience and expertise in using the mass media to support
education, awareness, advocacy and activism, TVE Asia Pacific
offers advisory services.

- Networking
and participating in regional and global forums for sustainable
development or social justice:
TVE Asia Pacific is always
looking for opportunities to share knowledge, skills and experiences
nationally, regionally and globally. To achieve this, it has joined
various networks and participates in regional and global meetings,
conferences and workshops on development and communication issues.
